Transcribe video to text — without uploading it

Most transcription tools upload your entire video file to their servers. AudioTextFast works differently: the audio track is extracted locally in your browser first, so your raw video never leaves your device.

Upload an audio or video file

Up to 60 minutes • 5 free transcriptions per day • Compressed locally before upload

How private transcription works

  1. 1You pick a file. Choose any video — MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WebM.
  2. 2Audio is extracted locally. Your browser strips the audio track on your own device, using built-in web APIs. No download, no install, no video upload.
  3. 3Only the audio is transcribed. A small, compressed audio file (~1 MB per minute) is sent to a secure AI transcription API. The video itself is never transmitted.
  4. 4You get your transcript. Edit, copy, or export as TXT, SRT, or VTT subtitles.

Why private transcription matters

Confidential meetings

Company recordings, legal calls, and HR sessions often can't be uploaded to third-party servers. Local extraction keeps the source file off the wire.

Large files, tiny uploads

A 1 GB video becomes a ~15 MB audio file. Faster processing, less bandwidth, no huge uploads stalling on slow connections.

No account, no sign-up

Nothing to register, nothing to install. Open the page, drop a file, get text.

No watermark, no waiting

Free for up to 5 transcriptions a day, with timestamps and subtitle export included.

Frequently asked questions

Is my video actually never uploaded?

Correct. The video file is decoded entirely in your browser using the built-in captureStream() API. Only the extracted audio is sent for transcription.

What video formats are supported?

Any format your browser can decode: MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI, MKV and more. If your browser can play it, AudioTextFast can transcribe it.

How long does transcription take?

Audio extraction runs in real time (a 30-minute video takes about 30 minutes to extract), then AI transcription takes seconds. Videos up to 60 minutes are supported.

Can I export subtitles?

Yes. Export your transcript as TXT, SRT, or VTT — ready for YouTube, Vimeo, or any video editor.
